Event Details
(Please note: previous experience of EFT training is not required to join this training.)
Trauma and emotional pain often sit at the core of clients’ deepest struggles. Yet the distress evoked in revisiting traumatic experiences can lead many to withdraw from therapy, preventing meaningful healing. The Expanded Focusing Task, grounded in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and trauma-informed principles, offers a structured yet compassionate way to process trauma while maintaining client safety.
This two-day experiential training, facilitated by Dr. Lou Cooper, will introduce you to the step-by-step process developed by Dr. Melissa Harte and presented in her book Processing Emotional Pain Using Emotion Focused Therapy (2019). Through demonstration, reflection, and practice, you will learn to help clients approach rather than avoid emotional injuries – transforming pain into integration and growth.
This workshop will take place across two days:
Friday, June 5th, 2026 (9am–5pm)
Saturday, June 6th, 2026 (9am–5pm)
Venue: Triune Centre (Hall 7)
Fees: RM2600 / SGD1100 (for colleagues based in Singapore) / US$800 (int. price)
CPD: 4 points for LKM-registered counsellors
In this workshop you will learn how to…
- Understand how trauma manifests within the therapeutic relationship.
- Create and sustain a sense of safety during trauma processing.
- Apply the Expanded Focusing Task to guide clients through emotional injuries.

- Practise key steps of the Expanded Focusing Task experientially within a supportive environment.
