Event Details
Join us for an enlightening two-part webinar series on contemporary grief counselling led by Dr. John Wilson, a leading expert with over 25 years of experience in grief and bereavement counselling. As the author of two influential works, Supporting People through Loss and Grief and The Plain Guide to Grief, Dr. Wilson brings extensive clinical expertise and research-based insights to this specialised training programme.
This comprehensive training is designed specifically for mental health professionals, trainees, and anyone who works with bereaved people and seeking to enhance their understanding and skills in supporting grieving clients. The sessions combine current theoretical frameworks with practical, culturally-sensitive interventions, offering a balance between foundational knowledge and clinical application.
Over two, three-hour sessions you’ll explore contemporary grief theories, cultural considerations, and evidence-based intervention strategies. The training emphasises practical skills development through case studies and discussion of real-world applications. This programme is for those who are looking to develop or enhance their understanding of grief counselling and enrich their connection and work with bereaved clients.
You’ll learn to…
- Apply contemporary grief theories and models in clinical practice while demonstrating an understanding of their advantages over traditional stage-based approaches
- Integrate cultural and religious considerations when conceptualising and treating grief-related presentations
- Implement evidence-based assessment tools and intervention strategies appropriate for different populations and types of grief
- Demonstrate competency in case conceptualisation and treatment planning for grieving clients, incorporating ethical considerations and cultural sensitivity
