
Dr. Chua Sook Ning
Dr Chua Sook Ning is the founder of Relate Malaysia and a visiting scholar at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where she completed an MPH in Epidemiology. She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and a BA in Psychology from McGill University, and an MA in Social Psychology from the University of Waterloo.
A clinical psychologist, educator, supervisor, and researcher, Dr Chua works at the intersection of motivation, self-regulation, and mental health interventions. She has collaborated with leading scholars including Prof Richard Ryan, Prof Richard Koestner, Prof Jeanne Watson, and Dr John Markowitz, and continues to contribute to research and training locally and internationally.
A recognised advocate for mental health, she is a frequent media contributor and has delivered three TEDx talks since 2017. She is certified by the Beck Institute as a Master Clinician in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and certified in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) by the International Society for EFT. She also serves as Head of the Institute of EFT Malaysia.
Over more than a decade, she has appeared regularly on radio and in print, and has delivered invited keynotes and workshops across Southeast Asia and beyond.
Dr Chua advises companies and institutions on motivation, resilience, and workplace mental health, and has designed programmes that support cultures of psychological safety and sustainable performance. Her training style is practical and evidence-informed, helping participants develop the personal strengths, reflective capacity, and skills needed to navigate adversity with confidence and care.
