Dr. Allen Miller is the Director of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) Programs and clinical psychologist at the nonprofit Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. With more than 25 years of experience in the field of cognitive behavioral therapy and having been trained by and worked alongside Dr. Aaron Beck (the founder of CBT), Dr. Miller is a highly skilled and experienced clinical psychologist who has held leadership positions in large integrated health systems. In this capacity, he has provided administrative and operational oversight for the behavioural health service line that served hospitals and medical practices, which has allowed him to gain a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by medical and mental health professionals.

 

Dr. Miller’s expertise extends beyond the clinical setting, having been involved in disaster preparedness and response, including clinical care for 9/11 first responders in 2001 and work on the ground in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He specialises in public health issues, trauma, population health management, substance use (including opioid use), administrative and clinical management of critical incidents, responding to stress and anxiety in the medical/health care community, and management of chronic medical conditions.

 

Dr. Miller draws upon his decades of experience and wealth of knowledge in a variety of topics, including the unique challenges faced by medical providers, integrating mental health treatment into medical settings, and how our collective mental health has been and will be impacted in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.
